Abstract
There has been an increasing trend of transportation energy consumption almost all over the world. In this context, energy saving is crucial for a sustainable city. This paper presents a sustainable urban form by estimating the transportation energy consumption in Tokyo metropolitan area for various measures. Consequently, the results obtained from simulation show that a progress information technology and electric cars are estimated to make a remarkable effect on the energy reduction. In addition, helping public transportation policy to work efficiently, centralization of business districts lead to the decline of automobile usage for business purpose, which is a relatively high factor to determine the tendency of total consumption.
