Abstract
This paper aims to make clear the change of the Kleingarten in Vienna, focusing on the amendment of building code and kleingarten act of the state Vienna in 1992 and discussing history, regulations, and spacial actual condition of Kleingarten. The main results of this paper are as follows: 1) the reason why the Kleingarten in Vienna exist near city area is that they are made in the rest site as a method against the lack of foods in the period of the World War II, 2)in the period between the wars, the Kleingartens are focused as second house, 3)the area of kleingarten house is enough for living also by using underground of its site, keeping the use of garden.
