Abstract
Le Corbusier published his first book on urban design “Urbanisme” in 1925. However, as early as 1910, he started his critical study on his native town “La Chaux-de-Fonds” under the title of “La Construction des Villes”, owing to the ideas of Camillo Sitte and Camille Martin. This paper studies his footsteps for “Urbanisme” in relation to the urban structure of his native town. For this purpose, first of all, I take a general survey of the history of his native town, in order to find out the features of its urban structure. Secondly, I analyze how Le Corbusier considered the features throughout the period between “La Construction des Villes” and “Urbanisme”.
