Abstract
In Thailand, people's movements to develop the city and region have appeared since around 1992. One of the objectives of this study is to explain development process of urban and regional development movements by people through case study of movement in Trang city and to point out characteristics and future problems of the movement. The another objective is to consider about social background and factors of emergence and development of the movement. This study analyzed the development process of civic movement in Trang, focusing the following two points; 1) the relationship among this movement and the new middle class, and 2) the network between people in Trang, NGOs, local authorities and the central government.
