Abstract
This study aims at explaining the process of resident participation in public housing renewal project, which included the integration of the housing complexes at the I-district in Kitakyushu-City. And the study explores how the future public housing complex renewal should be through the actual examination and practices. The following three finding are the most significant outcomes of this study; 1. Plan and rule were established through the relationship construction among the participants; 2. The project was participated by not only the residents but also by people from neighboring communities; 3. The participation resulted in reconstruction of the community as well as the establishment of the housing management system, plan of the common space, relationship building with the neighboring community while the residence succeeded the reflection of residents opinions.
