Abstract
"Scenic Byway HOKKAIDO" refers to roads through local resources such as Hokkaido's own landscape,nature,culture, etc., aimed at developing characteristic Hokkaido. Its main theme is to build a beautiful landscape that can be enjoyed from these roads. Landscape viewed from roads designated as "Scenic Byway HOKKAIDO" is understood as a continuous sequential landscape and was quantitatively evaluated in this study. The study aimed to categorize Hokkaido's road landscape. Complexity of road landscape was evaluated using a quantitative method with Fractal Dimension. Furthermore,categorization was made with compositions of road landscape, resulting in three categorized types of road landscape and clarified characteristics of Hokkaido's road landscape.
