This study aims at demonstrating the criminogenic characteristic through the analysis of relationship between street crimes and regional factors at Hitachi-shi, in Ibaraki-prefecture. At first the effect of the regional factors on the street crimes was studied. Next, the self-anticrime activities and its effect were investigated through the principal component analysis and were classified into four categories. Followings are the main findings of this study. First, the accessibility to railway stations and national roads tends to increase the crimes. Second, occurrence of crime is influence by population density. Finally, self-anticrime activities are more effective if the target area is sub-divided into small zones.
