Abstract
The aims of this paper is to test the application of our disaster-risk management to a disaster mitigation in mountainous area. The frame of our disaster-risk management is based on the risk communication with PDCA cycle. As for the case study, risk communication for a landside disaster due to heavy rain was implemented at Suge-community in Yamato Town. Consequently, workshops for a disaster mitigation were held eight times and evacuation drill for the landside disaster was executed twice. The workshops were managed smoothly and the participants raised awareness about the disaster-risk. Two custom-made supporting information systems for the evacuation were also developed through discussion at the workshops. One is an information system of the level of rainfall and another is an information system of evacuation status of the local community.
