Abstract
This study aims to propose the evaluation method of regional hub cities for the realization of compact city. We evaluate the urban area by using GIS with three indices, the population density, the accessibility and the infrastructure, and compare the policy of each city with the result of the former by the hearing investigation. We elect five cities from the regional hub cities in the whole country. We find that in five cities, there are similarities between the evaluation by three indices and the policy and it is difficult for the cities to improve the evaluation quickly. We propose the method that drafts the rough urban structure by using the unified evaluation such as the three indices.
