In order to consider inducing measures for attraction of urban functions and residents in siting optimization plans, it is important to analyze the long-term change of residential zone characteristics and its impacts on travel behavior in neighborhood scale. This study aims to classify residential zone type and analyze change of land-use regulation, population density and automobile fuel consumption and modal share in residential zones in both 1992 and 2010. It was clarified that all characteristics are changed in local cities. In satellite cities in metropolitan area, zones far from city center or train stations were developed with the change of land use regulation and increase of automobile use.
