Abstract
We investigated the associations of physical activity of elderly residents with built environment and social capital at UR Takashimadaira-Danchi, a large residential complex in Tokyo, Japan. As built environment indices, we used floor number and the distance to the nearest train station. In addition, as physical activity indices, we used step counts and those on rainy days. We found that step counts of residents living on 10th floor or upper and residents aged 75 years and over living far from the nearest station were significantly less. Additionally, we found that step counts of residents aged 70 years and over and residents living on 10th floor or upper were significantly less on rainy days.
