Abstract
In Australia, young people who are in unstable living condition are regarded as homeless, and they are supported by youth homelessness support policy. Under this policy, community organizations are providing support activities with young homeless people through the connection within each local community. This article explores policy and actual condition of youth homelessness support in New South Wales, Australia and discusses the role and possible utilization of local community resources for supporting young homeless people. In conclusion, 1) Identifying young people being in an unstable situation as being homeless enables the establishment of a comprehensive support system. 2) Supporting young people to regain stability at their own home is the most preferable, but when it is difficult, the local community network can play a significant role to provide them with stability and sense of belonging.
