Abstract

The objective of this study is to clarify the contents and effects of migration support provided by resident organizations that lead to the promotion of migration to agricultural and mountain village areas. We conducted a questionnaire survey of resident organizations in the special area of Kyoto Prefecture for promoting migration. The analysis results shows that regular contact with vacant house owners, consultations from potential migrants, and implementation of migration-related events were revealed to be migration support affecting the effectiveness of migration promotion as recognized by the resident organizations. Furthermore, the results of interviews with migrants demonstrate that the consultations from potential migrants as well as the implementation of migration-related events play an important role such as providing an opportunity for migrant movement.
