Trends related to plans, projects and indicators for walkable promotion

Through an analysis of 53 local governments that have been designated as town-walkable areas

Abstract

In Japan, 53 local governments are implementing projects in line with the “Walkable Promotion Program” established by the Japanese government as the need to create new value and solve regional issues grows for workforce diversification. In this report, we surveyed these municipalities to identify examples of how they utilize the program. As a result, it became clear that each municipality has established walkable zones based on previously formulated plans and projects and measures to establish walkable zones within walking distance of each other.
