Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between changes of urbanized area and structures of road networks in urbanization promotion area including central Saga city. Firstly, we analyzed the change of urbanized area in terms of building footprint, land use, population, the number of offices and the number of employees from around 2000 to around 2018. Then, we categorized the area into 6 types, including promotion areas and declining areas. Then, we analyzed road networks by using Space Syntax Theory and Multiple Centrality Assessment. Then we could clarify the differences and similarity between IV, CC, CS and CB. Finally, we tried to clarify the driving factors to contribute to urban promotion and declining by using correlation coefficient and discriminant analysis. As a result, we pointed out that CC800 has relationship with urban promotion, while GIV has relationship with urban declining.
