Abstract

In this research, we clarified the development and location of day-care facilities and visiting care offices in urban space chronologically, for 20 years after the enforcement of the Nursing Care Insurance Act. At first, day-care facilities were often newly developed and equipped with nursing care functions, but over the next 10 years, they changed to highly flexible construction methods that utilized the resources existing in urban spaces, and at the same time, they were developed to meet latent nursing care needs. And the locations have been formed that correspond to the distribution of locations with a moderate positive correlation. However, the development method of visiting care facilities is different from that of day-care facilities. At the beginning, they have been established with a highly flexible development method that utilized the resources existing in urban space, and were created in locations that corresponded to the distribution of latent needs with a moderate positive correlation.
