Abstract

The number of vacant houses in Japan is increasing yearly, and the problem is becoming more serious. Akiya Bank is a system designed to distribute and reduce the number of vacant houses in Japan. However, Akiya Bank has issues such as low awareness and few registered properties. This study aims to identify how to raise awareness of Akiya Bank and the number of listings on this platform, as well as to clarify where efforts should be focused to reduce the mismatch between supply and demand for vacant houses. Additionally, this study is unique in that the sample size is large, covering the entire country, and the quantitative analysis is based on detailed data, considering the internal conditions of local governments and the actual operation of Akiya Bank.
