Kogashira-taikobashi Bridge with the blind ditches: the historical value and its roles of flood control

Abstract

shira-taikobashi Bridge, which is the only one left now over Koutsuki River amongthe stone bridges built over the river by Sangoro Iwanaga from Higo and other civil engineers, was constructed one hundred fifty years ago over the canal made in the way of excavating rocks.This report shows the value of these engineering works for remains and ideas of the preservation.
