Abstract
Marina demand projection is a crucial financial consideration in marina planning. Unfortunately it is often very difficult because marina demands vary widely with the location, access and profile of boating age residents in the primary market. A new computer system that calculates marina local demand has been developed to overcome these problems. The computer system analyses a large database of social and economic conditions then calculates marina local demand. The system therefore facilitates regional marina strategic planning exercises. By way of illustration, results of marina local demand projections of Tokyo Bay area and Osaka Bay area are shown.
