Abstract
This paper shows the relationship between the shape of walking routes and the walking characteristics based on the survey at Tanushimaru town in Fukuoka prefecture. The followings became clear through the analysis.
(1) Most strollers prefer the rural road types in their walking routes.
(2) Walking routes consist of the loop sections and the two-way sections. The two-way sections consist of dropping-in section, connecting section and starting and returning section. And they have the different roles each other.
(3) route with long loop is generally longer than one with short loop.
Based on these results, the outline for the planning of walking routes in the residential area is proposed.
