Abstract

n this study, the rear-end collision at the merging section is focused as a typical case of traffic accident occurrence at black spots with grade separated crossing. Four factors, such as difference of the decision for merging, existence of the commercial facilities near by this section, position of the stop-line, angle between the main and branch lane, were obtained in terms of the road and traffic condition through the field survey. As the result of the traffic flow analysis, these factors were evaluated from the viewpoint of traffic safety and the standpoint for the improvement in road design were clarified.
