Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the possibility about further enlargement of container ships for each mail alliances. At first, the loading capacities were calculated from the amount of the predicted container handling of main alliances and main routes using the developed model. Second, the size of container ships were estimated under the given slot utilizations, capacity rates of over Panamax and paces of ship construction. The estimated sizes by 2006 were compared with the actual ordered sizes that based on the newest information. Following this present trend, the estimated values by 2011 showed that the possibility of further enlargement of container ships in some alliances were high.
