Abstract
The number of shield tunnels with large cross-sections built deep underground has been increasing in recent years. In order to design shields safely and precisely, there are unclarified factors to be studied in detail.
The authors measured actual strain on the shield being in operation, and estimated the earth pressure acting on the shield by means of reverse analysis with FEM.
This paper deals with the studies concerning reverse analysis technique to assume earth pressure, evaluation of the calculated earth pressure, applicability of analytical models and their boundary conditions.
