Abstract
ravity investigations in the Northwest Pacific Ocean basin are carried out by Soviet, Japanese, and American geophysicists. The data obtained are systematized and generalized. Gravimetric maps of the Okhotsk Sea, Japan Sea, East China Sea, Philippine Sea, and other marginal seas have been compiled at different scales.
Combined interpretation of gravimetric and other geological and geophysical data has made it possible to develop the density models of the crust, lithosphere, and mantle. A satisfactory agreement between the observed and calculated gravity anomalies is obtained on the assumption of different thicknesses and densities of the lithosphere and asthenosphere under the depressions of the marginal seas and in the Northwest Pacific.
