Abstract
Cyazofamid is a novel fungicide that was discovered and was being developed by Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, Ltd. This fungicide is specifically active at a very low concentration for the control of Oomycete and Plasmodiophoromycete diseases. Cyazofamid belongs to a new class of fungicide with a new mode of action different to those of commercial fungicides. In field studies, cyazofamid exhibits excellent performance for the control of diseases caused by Oomycete at very low use rates. It has a favorable environmental, ecotoxicological and toxicological profile. Discovery, synthetic methodology, structure activity relationships and biology of related imidazoles are described.
