This lecture will give an overview of the history of Open Access (OA) promotion activities that the Kyoto University Library Organization has been carrying out since the 2000s. Next, we will introduce some of the ways in which OA research articles have been used in society as a result of these activities, and consider the significance of the institutional repository project. As a recent initiative, the concept of research cycle support for open science will be introduced, and finally, the changing role of librarians resulting from the researcher interviews conducted as part of the initiative will be discussed.
