Tsuneyasu KAWATA. Journal Identification Key. Pharm. Libr. Bull. 40 (2 ) 147-153, 1995. Journal identification keys are used to distinguish one journal (title) from another. Journal identification codes (CODEN and ISSN) seem to have little relation to their journal name, which makes them difficult to remember. So, their implicit coding rule was supposed. Their check character system was also described. Abbreviation rule of journal names was also described, and its discrimination efficiency evaluation was mentioned.
