抄録

I. The percentage of the germination of the seed of Sesamum indicum, L. changes according to the sorts of stimulating substances used at the first stage of germination. The series of the stimulating action of these substances is as follows:
NO₃>Cl>SO₄>PO₄. Ca<K<Na<NH₄.
The series is out of order with the lapse of time, especially in the lower concentration the series becomes contrary to the former.
2. The series of concentration to stimulate the germination is as follows: 0.1<0.05<0.01<0.005. And with the lapse of time the maximum point of germination migrates to the higher concentration.
3. Ammonium salts stimulate the germination stronger than nitrates.
4. The difference of the percentage of germination according to the sorts of stimulating substances and their concentrations is greater in Sesamum indicum, L. than in Fagopyrum esculentum, MŒNCH.
5. Substances which are very permeable for the plasma-membrane stimulate the germination of the bud of Cornus controversa, HEMSL. These substances stimulate the germination of a bud which stands on the higher part of a branch, while the substances which are less permeable for the plasma-membrane stimulate only a bud which stands on the lower part of a branch.
