Abstract
Utilizability of DL-lysine in chick growth and egg production was investigated, and the following results were obtained.
The promoting effect of DL-lysine on chick growth and egg production is the same with that of L-lysine contained in DL-lysine. Even though DL-lysine is fed a relatively long period (8 weeks for chick and 4 weeks for hen), an adaptive increase of activity to utilize D-lysine is not induced. Since DL-lysine does not show any adverse effect, DL-lysine can be used as an additive to elevate lysine content of the feed.
