The thermomagnetic properties of the compound Cr2As and Cu2Sb were investigated together with the phase diagram of Cr–As system. From the results of thermal and thermomagnetic measurements for Cr2As and Cu2Sb it was found that they show antiferromagnetic behavior with the Néel point at 393°K and at 373°K respectively. Their reciprocal susceptibilities obey the Curie-Weiss law in high temperature range, but a considerable deviation therefrom is seen just above the Néel point. From the Curie constant obtained by the present experiment, the effective magneton number μeff of the magetic carrier was calculated to be 3.6 and 2.6 for these compounds, Cr2As and Cu2Sb, respectively. The total heat absorptions due to the vanishing of antiferromagnetic order in spin arrangement were 50 Cal/mol and 20 Cal/mol. A discussion is given on the origin of the above-mentioned magnetic properties.
