Forced volume magnetostriction of cocalt-nickel alloys with 10, 20 and 30 atomic percent nickel content was measured by means of resistance strain-gauge up to the magnetic field of 15000 Oe. It was observed that the fractional volume change per oersted of these alloys after technical saturation were smaller than 1×10−10/Oe. The result is consistent, at least qualitatively, with Patrick’s experimental results of the change of the Curie temperature with hydrostatic pressure.
