The temperature variations of the electronic specific heats and the magnetic susceptibilities are calculated for Zr and Rh metals by making use of the density of states curves determined from the low temperature specific heat data for 4d-group transition metals and their alloys. The temperature variations of the electronic specific heats of these metals are well explained by the calculated results. The calculated values of the spin paramagnetic susceptibility without a molecular field are considerably smaller than the observed susceptibilities. For Zr metal the difference is mainly attributable to the orbital paramagnetism and its orbital paramagnetic susceptibility is estimated as about 1.0×10−4 emu/mole. From an analysis of the susceptibility in Rh metal, three possibilities are suggested to explain the experimental temperature variation of susceptibility.
