The Damping of the Large Wave-Number Disturbances in a Free Boundary Layer Flow

抄録

The amplification factor c_i of small disturbances in a free boundary layer flow of a viscous, incompressible fluid is calculated for large values of the wave-number α.
It is found that there exist two asymptotic branches:

both of which represent the rapidly damping disturbances. This result confirms the existence of the inviscid damping which was pointed out in the previous paper.
