A detailed derivation of the expression for the renormalization constant Z for an interacting electron gas in lowest order in the effective interaction is given. It is clearly demonstrated that the result of Daniel and Vosko is correct in the high density limit, contrary to some recent work of Ôsaka. Numerical results are included for the renormalization constant.
