The Slow Neutron Capture Cross Sections for the Long-Lived Activities, ¹⁷¹Er and ¹⁷¹Tm

Abstract

The slow neutron capture cross section for ¹⁷¹Er was obtained to be (2.8±0.3)×10² barns by irradiating natural Er with the high flux pile. The (n, γ) reaction cross section for ¹⁷¹Tm, far from the stable isotope ¹⁶⁹Tm, was determined to be (1.6_−1.0^+0.3)×10² barns in this irradiation.
