Dielectric Dispersion in Ferroelectric RbHSO₄

Abstract

Complex dielectric constants of RbHSO₄ along the ferroelectric c-axis were measured over the frequency range from 10 kHz to 9.50 GHz as functions of temperature. Monodispersive dielectric dispersion was observed around the Curie temperature, T_c=−8.56°C, with relaxation time τ_p expressed as τ_p=7.7×10⁻¹¹⁄(T−T_c) s for T>T_c and τ_p=2.9×10⁻¹¹⁄(T_c−T) s for T<T_c. Electro-mechanical clamping effects were found to contribute to τ_p in the ferroelectric phase.
