Physical Properties Related to Phase Transitions in Na₂CO₃ Crystals

Abstract

Several physical properties related to phase transitions in Na₂CO₃ crystal were experimentally studied. Ferroelasticity was confirmed above 200°C. The temperature dependence of birefringence was measured. Pressure dependence of transition temperatures were studied above room temperature. In addition, specific heat and electric capacity in low temperature region were measured, but no distinct anomalies associated with the reported lock-in transition could be found.
