Asymmetries for the Lepton Pair Produced in Hadronic Collisions: Test of Electroweak Gauge Models

抄録

The cross-section dσ⁄dM and various asymmetries (charge asymmetry, helicity asymmetry or lepton polarization and charge-helicity asymmetry) of the lepton pair produced in hadronic collisions: p(\barp)+p→(γ, Z10, Z20…)+Xl\barl+X are calculated by assuming the Drell-Yan mechanism. The formulas are presented in the general form to be applicable to any gauge model of underlying electroweak interactions. Numerical results are presented for the cross-section and the asymmetries of the lepton pair produced in \barpp collision at \sqrts=540 GeV and in pp collision at \sqrts=800 GeV, employing the Weinberg-Salam, SU(2)×U(1)×[U(1)]′ and SU(2)×U(1)×[SU(2)]′ models. Clearly distinguishable signals are revealed.
