A structure analysis was made for Fe–V artificial superstructure films by X-ray diffraction. The experiments demonstrated successful growing of coherent Fe–V multilayers of the [110] texture. The diffraction patterns are interpreted by a simple step model, which implies that a large mismatch of d spacings of a bcc lattice between Fe and V is compensated by coherency strains. The average d spacing of the bcc lattice changes with the composition of the films.
