Magnetic properties of a copper hexanitro compound Rb2PbCu(NO2)6 were investigated by means of magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, high field magnetization and electron spin resonance. The results show that the compound is a one-dimensional antiferromagnet with the main exchange interaction J⁄k of −2.5±0.2 K along the c-axis. A broad peak in the magnetic susceptibility and specific heat is found around 3 K while the Néel temperature is 0.59±0.005 K. The easy-plane type anisotropy is found in the c-plane and the spin contraction effect is found in accord with the theoretical expectation.
