The specific heats of liquid Se–Te alloys have been measured as a function of temperature. There have been large and maximum values in the specific heat curves of liquid Se1−xTex (x=0.2, 0.3 and 0.4) alloys. They are explained in terms of Schottky-type specific heats due to the transition from non-metallic two-fiold coordination to metallic coordination in the liquid state, in addition to the ordinal one which is known as the Dulong-Petit’s value.
