Electronic Band Structure of C₈K Studied by Angle-Resolved Ultraviolet Photoelectron Spectroscopy

Angle-resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy has been performed for a C₈K single crystal. The dispersive π^*-band near the \ ildeK point and the so-called K 4s band around the Γ point are experimentally identified. The experimentally determined band structure has been compared with two different band calculations to discuss the charge transfer in C₈K. The observed difference in the spectral feature of the ‘K 4s’ band between the experiment and the calculation are also discussed.
