Paramagnetic Scattering from the Ordered Invar Alloy Fe₃Pt

We report the results of inelastic neutron scattering measurements on the ordered invar alloy Fe₃Pt in the paramagnetic phase. The qualitative properties of the magnetic scattering are similar to those measured in other isotropic cubic ferromagnets. We have found, however, that the temperature dependence of the quasielastic scattering is neither consistent with the predictions of Résibois and Piette for a Heisenberg ferromagnet, nor with band theory.
