Mössbauer Spectroscopic Studies on SrFe_1−xCo_xO₃

Mössbauer effect measurements of ⁵⁷Fe in SrFe_1−xCo_xO₃(0≤x≤0.5) have been performed at room temperature, 77, 64 and 4.2 K in order to study the electronic structure of Fe⁴⁺ ions. The Mössbauer spectra at 4.2 K were a single set of magnetically split lines, the form of which varied little with x. It is confirmed by the present study that Fe⁴⁺ ions have nearly a high spin electron configuration for 0≤x≤1. Mössbauer spectra at 77 K had a paramagnetic line as well as magnetically split lines in the range of 0.05≤x≤0.15, in which local fluctuation of composition of Co is considered to give rise to a magnetically inhomogeneous structure.
