In stretched polythiophene films, absorptions due to photo- and doping-induced (bi)polarons are found to be highly anisotropic, similar to a π−π* transition. It is also found that the generation efficiency of polarons does not depend on the polarization of excitation lights. This result is discussed in terms of an initial mechanism of photoinduced polarons.
