The fluctuation conductivity above Tc (paraconductivity) in niobium thin films with normal-state sheet resistances Rnsq of 20 to 300 Ω/sq was measured as a function of temperature. Results were analyzed in terms of the Aslamazov-Larkin and Maki-Thompson theories to determine values of Tc and the pair-breaking parameter δ. These theories account well for experimental data at temperatures not too close to Tc. Just above Tc, there is evidence that δ strongly depends on the temperature. Relations among Tc, δ and Rnsq are discussed in the light of theories of weak localization effects on superconductivity.
