The ground state properties of the double layer quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnet are studied by the spin wave approximation. It is shown that the spin fluctuation decreases with the increase of the antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling JK for small JK, while it turns to increase for large JK within the linear spin wave approximation. It is expected that the long range order is destroyed for large enough JK indicating the possibility of the quantum disordered state. This mechanism of the destruction of the antiferromagnetic order contains no frustration and is of purely quantum origin. This model is also related to the highly doped limit of the coupled spin-fermion model of the high Tc superconductors if the intralayer magnetic coupling in one of the layers is absent.
