The purpose of this study is to reconsider values of body in physical education, and point out major problems in discussion of them in order to clarify the proper way of discussion of values of body in physical education. For this purpose, the following main questions are proposed: 1) what kind of aspects of body have been considered as values in physical education? 2) what kind of influence have such values had on individual body? 3) what is the main aspect of body in physical education? These questions are concerned with the relationship between values of body in general and those in physical education in particular, i. e., the original value of body in physical education, and with the clarification of original field of physical education in education. Main points which are presented in this study are as follows:
1) Relationship between concept of such values as health and physical fitness, and individual body is not clear.
2) Relationship between values of body in physical education and values of human movement, especially sport, i. e. meaning of sports skill to body is not clear.
3) Fundamental viewpoint of body necessary to clarification of values of body in physical education is potentiality.
4) Based on framework of potentiality, it is necessary to establish clear view of body essential to physical education.
5) Standard of relative values of body is to be deduced from the view of body mentioned above.
