Adsorption of ⁶⁰Co on Non-ionic Macro-reticular Resin Impregnated Tetraphenylarsonium Chloride or Tetraphenylarsonium thiocyanate

Adsorption of ⁶⁰Co thiocyanate on non-ionic macro-reticular resin impregnated tetraphenylarsonium chloride (TPAC) or tetraphenylarsonium thiocyanate (TPAT) is described. It was seen that adsorption of ⁶⁰Co on Amberlite XAD-2 impregnated TPAC or TPAT is due to the formation of tetraphenylarsonium cobalt thiocyanate. These adsorbents were found to effectively concentrate ⁶⁰Co from sea water by the addition of sodium thiocyanate.
