Intracellular concentrations of intermediates and cofactors of glycolysis were measured in γ-irradiated Ehrlich ascites tumor cells. Changes in the levels of intermediates and comparison of mass-action ratios with the equilibrium constants for the reactions of glycolysis revealed a remarkable enhancement of phosphofructokinase activity and inhibitions at the triosephosphate dehydrogenase and pyruvate kinase steps. The possible mechanisms involved in the alteration of these regulatory enzymes in glycolysis were discussed.
